"A tour de force. It's hard to think of a better description of The Violin Maker...a powerful telling of Jewish pain and triumph while offering a more universal moral of fighting fascism ad suppression with humanity and love.
The Violin Maker is theater at its best. Don't miss it. "

AN AMERICAN PREMIERE
based on the Stories of Violins of Hope
The Israeli violin maker, Amnon Weinstein, founder of the Violins of Hope collection, died in 2024 at age 84, but his extraordinary story, and the true stories of the violins he restored, are masterfully interwoven with music in this powerful and uplifting play.
STORIES FROM THE VIOLINS OF HOPE: THE STAGE PLAY
Based on a True Story
(Barry French as Amnon Weinstein)
Written by Lisa Pearl Rosenbaum and Ronda Spinak
Musical Curation by Dr. Noreen Green
Every violin has a story to tell , and reminds us of the beauty human beings are capable of creating.
Adapted from the original script by Lisa Pearl Rosenbaum
This fully-staged play dives deeper into the original theatrical presentation of Stories from the Violins of Hope. With more stories, scenes, and additional music, the play, interwoven with music, tells the stories of a collection of extraordinary violins as it follows the the arc of an Israeli violin maker's life - from a proud Israeli boy who wanted nothing to do with the Holocaust and his family's pain , to a man who devotes his life to repairing "stringed survivors" whose voices are now heard in concerts around the world - restoring the dignity of their owners for generations to come.
Stories from the Violins of Hope is based on my conversations with the remarkable Israeli violin maker Amnon Weinstein, and the Weinstein family, to whom I am deeply grateful.
...a sensitively written script that is evocative of the time as well as the personalities of the Weinstein family and the people who bring their violins to the workshop, whose stories the violins reveal.
